If the first reason for prayer is the examples we are given in God’s Word, our second reason follows closely behind. The Creator of the Universe, Lord of Heaven’s Armies, invites us to pray to Him. Can you even imagine!? A being more powerful than anything Marvel or DC can dream up invites us to speak to Him. Invites us into a relationship with Him.
Why would we say, “no?”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 also states, “Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Then in the verses just after the well-known Jeremiah 29:11 passage God says, “For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope. When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers. When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul I will make myself available to you, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:11-14a, NET).
We love the promise but we forget that it is followed up with prayer.
When the Lord invites us to pray, who are we to walk away and say, “No, thanks?”
Beginning on October 3rd, we will begin our next gathering of Prayer Club, called Just Go in Their Rooms.
For 30 days, we’re going to pray through our newest prayer journal, Everyday Prayers for the School Year, together, checking in daily in a special Facebook group just for like-minded praying moms. What makes this Prayer Club special is that we’re encouraging you to go into your child’s room to pray each day. There’s just something so special about laying hands on their bed, or chair, or even gaming console, as you ask God to lead and protect them.
How to Sign Up for Prayer Club
Easy.
- Order your copy of Everyday Prayers for the School Year.
- Fill out this form. You’ll receive a welcome email next week giving you all the details you need, and access to the Facebook group where we’ll host Prayer Club. Leading up to Prayer Club, the week of 9/26/22, you’ll receive the Prayer Journaling Jumpstart email series. It’s designed to prep you for the 30 days of prayer to come, giving you tips and encouragement for starting a prayer journaling habit. Don’t forget to fill out the form. It’s the only way we have to know you’re signed up, and contact you with details!
That’s it! We can’t wait to get started and see how God moves as we spend 30 days intentionally praying for our children!
I appreciate this post so much. I honestly try to pray right when I say that I am praying because I know I am likely to forget. I have also found that I like typing out a prayer in the Facebook response. Often it has long and only a few words show up when someone is scrolling. But I do think it is comforting to the original poster to know that someone actually prayed and has words for what they are going through. I also realize that for people who may just be posting the word that they are praying, if they are reading my prayer, it can be there pair too.
Ella Herlihy can I say that you are absolutely soft on. I read your prayer and have got great comfort for it. My son is being bullied and I needed to hear this today. God bless you
9/29 marks 14 years since my 1st miscarriage and 2/14 will be 6 years for my 2nd miscarriage. How different my life would be with 3 kiddos? I’m grateful for our 1 kiddo, I tease him he was our 1 good egg. He has brought us so much joy. I try to take comfort that we had 1 kiddo but sometimes the sadness bubbles up.
