All day, on Mother’s Day 2022, I couldn’t help but think of the mom who spent the day feeling like maybe she’d messed up too much. Or, the mom, like me, who knows her time is short, and feels like there’s still so much left to do.
I thought of the mom who, like Naomi Judd, said to herself, “If I’d known better, I would’ve done better…” and now thinks it might be too late.
I thought of other moms who have made bad choices, hard decisions, or faced impossible circumstances, & now feel a hurt I’ve never known…& I want to say…stop.
Stop listening to the voices that beat you down, & fill your heart with the Voice of Truth (Unraveled: Hope for the Mom at the End of Her Rope).
WHEN YOU FEEL MISUNDERSTOOD, CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS UNDERSTANDS WHAT YOU’RE GOING THROUGH
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15
WHEN YOU FEEL DESPERATE, CHOOSE TO REMEMBER WHERE YOUR STRENGTH COMES FROM
“GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.” Habakkuk 3:19
WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE, CHOOSE TO REMEMBER ALL THE THINGS GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU IN THE PAST, AND BELIEVE HE WILL DO THEM AGAIN
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13 NKJV
It’s an intentional choice, & it may take time, but learning to do this can fill you with hope instead of weariness, belief instead of doubt, faith instead of fear.
100% worth it.
