Let’s face it, there’s a little discontentment in all of us. If we have straight hair, you wish it were curly. If you’re short, you wish you were tall. The list can go on forever. Being content doesn’t come naturally for us. Consider Adam and Eve. They had it all. Their life was really perfect. Yet all it took was the implication by the serpent that they were missing out on something and suddenly everything they had paled in comparison with what they didn’t. They believed the enemy’s lie that God didn’t have their best interest in mind…that what they had been given wasn’t enough.
We must teach our girls that everything they have is due to God’s goodness, not their worthiness or accomplishments.
~ Teri Lynne Underwood
Today’s prayer is based on Matthew 6:21, Philippians 4:10-13, Psalm 37:4, James 1:17, 1 Corinthians 7:17, and Matthew 5:6. Today’s devotion is adapted from the book, Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most, by Teri Lynne Underwood, read by Stacey Thacker, and used with permission from Bethany House, a division of Baker Publishing Group, 2014.
