When my teenager was just a toddler, we giggled proudly at his earnest attempts to flex his muscles—fists tight, face grimacing and an attempt to show his strength. No doubt some adult had taught him that this display was worthy of attention and smiles because it’s cute and we love strength. But in Psalm 18, David sings of something greater than flexed muscles. He knows of a strength that is far more than an outcome.
