Dear Friends,
Almost 12 years ago, Brooke and I connected cross-country on Twitter over a shared interest in helping moms of boys raise their sons to be godly men. Only God could orchestrate that meeting, and all that has followed, in the years of ministry together since. What started as a place of encouragement for boy moms (The MOB Society) became a prayer ministry for all moms (Million Praying Moms) and I have been incredibly thankful for this community in all its forms.
God has spoken to us many times over the years about the direction and next steps for this ministry, and He has been speaking again, this time asking me to be more invested in my family, community, and local church. Because Million Praying Moms has been such a wonderful thing in my life, I resisted His direction for awhile, but it is time to embrace the changing of this season to do whatever He has next for me.
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” -Proverbs 16:9
October 2021 will be my last month with Million Praying Moms. I know it will be an emotional month, but please know my stepping away is purely following God’s leading and NOT the result of any conflict or negativity within the ministry. God often calls us away from good things, even while they are still good, to lead us into something better for this season of life.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Lord has asked me to lay down my role in the ministry of Million Praying Moms to pursue a new season. With our three sons getting older and busier all the time, I will be devoting more time to being present with them and my husband. I am also excited about the local service & ministry opportunities God has already placed in my path.
I have such a hard time letting go of things, especially good things. I don’t ever want to throw things out, I save all the photos (and regularly run out of storage). And I have an especially hard time saying no to or leaving anything that is done in service to God. I know so many moms also struggle with this. But we CANNOT do it all. We SHOULD NOT do it all. That means when God calls us to something new, we will have to let others things go, even very good things. We can let go in faith knowing “…for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
I am incredibly grateful for over a decade of serving and encouraging this community alongside Brooke. God knew exactly what He was doing in bringing us together as our personalities and giftings naturally complemented one another. I have learned and grown so much from my time with Brooke – as a follower of Jesus, as a praying mom, and as a woman. She will continue to lead this ministry with the grace and truth that pours out in all she does. I will be following along and cheering her on all the way as she continues to seek God’s will for Million Praying Moms. I can’t wait to see where He leads!
Thank you to all of you for being our people. Thank you for sharing this praying mom life with us. Thank you for praying for us, supporting us, and following Jesus with us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
In Christ,
Erin Mohring
