Our enemy, Satan, will do everything he can do to make us think we don’t have time to be in the Word and keep us from the very thing meant to give us the guidance we need. We need to nurture our relationship with God by being in the Word, getting to know Him, and allowing Him to speak to us. If that is not our heart’s desire and something we model for our children, they will not learn to love God or nurture a relationship with Him for themselves.
Thoughts for Mom:
- God’s Word needs to be central in our lives. If we want our children to love God we must love Him, and that love must be visible to the people living in our home. (Matthew 22:37)
- We must work to be so immersed in the Word that it becomes integrated into all we do and the first authority we go to. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
- We must learn to apply Biblical principles to our personal life on a daily basis so we can help our children learn to apply them to their lives as well. God’s Word should be our standard for living. (2 Timothy 3:16)
How to Pray Through This:
Verse: “The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” Psalm 119:130
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word. Please increase my desire to be in it daily and give me a heart that loves You so that it will spill out and be evident to my children. Let them learn to love You as well.
Verse: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Prayer: Father, Your Word is powerful and I need it in order to live an authentic and Spirit led life. Help me to prioritize the nurturing of my relationship with You so that Your power might be evident in my home.
Verse: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
Prayer: Father, I need Your Word! Please light my path that I might know how to apply it to my life and teach my children to do the same!
Verse: “…the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes…” Psalm 19:8
Prayer: Father, please enlighten my eyes and help me to get to know You better so that I might lead my children to You.
