The teenage years can be hard. Thankfully, God’s Word isn’t silent on the character traits and positions of the heart our teenagers need most as they take steps toward adulthood. Take the list below and cover your child with God’s living and active Word!
Proverbs 9:6
“Leave inexperience behind, and you will live; pursue the way of understanding.”
Father, help my teenager to leave her simple ways and live, walking in the way of Your insight.
Proverbs 11:3
“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.”
Lord, give my teenager a desire to be guided by integrity, and keep him from crooked paths.

James 1:5
“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.”
Father, help my teenager be quick to ask You for wisdom, and when she does, be faithful to Your word, giving it to her generously, without reproach.
James 1:13-15
“No one undergoing a trial should say, “I am being tempted by God,” since God is not tempted by evil, and he himself doesn’t tempt anyone. But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.”
Lord, when my teenager is undergoing a trial, protect him from being tempted to sin. May he not be drawn away and enticed by his own evil desire.

1 John 2:1
“My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one.”
Father, I know my teenager will sin. She’s human, and she will mess up from time-to-time. When she sins, convict her, and help her remember she has an Advocate before You, Jesus Christ.
3 John 1:11
“Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.”
Lord, as my teenager gets more independent, he may find himself with the choice to imitate the evil that exists in the world. Please help him choose to imitate good. Surround him with Your people, and give him the desire to follow You, no matter what.
